FISH ON BASS ANGLERS - FISHING REPORTS

08/18/04 Potomac & Black Hills Lake
(Jeff W., Morgan W., and Greg S.)
Potomac River - Fishing was slow and the tide was high. Congrats to Morgan W. for catching big fish of the day on a buzzbait over a grass bed (2.5 pounds). A few dinks on plastic. Still algae floating around but not in huge chunks.

Black Hills - deep water and jig and pig. Find some deep water structure and fish it. Jeff W. put myself and Morgan W. to shame in about 10 minutes. After his 10th cast and 4th fish I decided to just watch Jeff fish. I watched him for about 5 minutes and my first cast afterwards brought in my second ever jig and pig fish (and my only one for the day). The bottom line (pun intended) is to fish deep.

08/15/04 Black Hills Lake
(Greg S. and Richard D.)
Fishing was still slow, but again Greg S. manages to pull up a 4-pounder on a Lake Fork Craw Tube in about 26 feet of water. Richard got a decent 2-plus on a jig and pig in the same area. A few dinks on crankbaits and tubes.

08/14/04 Black Hills Lake
(Ed S., Greg S., and Greg G.)
Fishing was very slow, but Greg S. managed to pull up a 5-pounder on a Bandit 300 crankbait in about 22 feet of water. Ed caught a few nice bass on a texas-rigged tube. Greg G. pulled in three bass (estimated 2 pounds, 2.8 pounds, and just about 2 pounds) in 10 minutes pitching a jig and pig into trees. Lots of dinks on finesse, but the better fish came on bigger baits.
